How your board is made
Every Kai board is shaped, painted and glassed one at a time. This is what happens after you press Add to bag.

The blank
It starts as a block of foam with a thin wooden stringer down the middle for strength. Your shape's outline is drawn on it in pencil.

Shaping
The shaper cuts the outline, then planes the rocker and rails by hand, checking the curves against the light until they flow.
- 03
Colour
Your deck, rail and stripe colours are sprayed straight onto the foam, so they sit under the shine and never peel.
- 04
Glassing
Fibreglass cloth is laid over the board and soaked in resin. Once it sets, the board is strong, stiff and waterproof.
- 05
Fins and sanding
Fin boxes are set into the tail, then the whole board is sanded smooth and given a final gloss coat.
- 06
Ready to ride
Your name and stickers go on, every inch is checked, and the board is packed and sent to you.
